Caring For Your Coated Timber Floor
Floor Coatings / Finishes enhance the aesthetics of timber floors, as well as provide extra durability against wear & tear for a surface with exceptional durability already.
To maximize the benefits from floor finishes, awareness of basic care and maintenance advice will prolong the surface quality and lead to years of satisfaction.
Timber floor Coatings are highly abrasion resistant durable floor finishes that are basically maintenance free and only require cleaning on a regular basis, which will be the key to keeping your wooden floors at its best

CARING FOR YOUR FLOOR 01.
Shoes carry sand, grit and small stones which will abrade the floor surface in the same way that sandpaper does. Place mats at entrances and where possible place a mat on the inside as well as outside. Use runners and rugs in high traffic areas.

DIRECT LIGHT / FILTER LIGHT WITH CURTAINS:
Like any quality furnishing or floor covering in your home, direct light (sunlight and/or artificial) will cause discolouring over time. To avoid fading and discolouring, filter direct light with curtains or blinds. As floors that have been exposed to light will slightly change colour over time, remember that areas of floor covered with rugs etc., will retain their original colour. Therefore once rugs are removed, or their position changed, variations in colour may become visible.
CARING FOR YOUR FLOOR 03.
The most important thing you can do to keep your timber floor looking like new is to establish a regular maintenance / cleaning programme. Just how regularly you need to maintain / clean the floor is totally dependent on the environment the floor is exposed to. Factors such as the level of traffic, the degree of grit carried onto the floor, pets and children, the condition of the immediate outside are etc., all have influence on the wear of the floor.

DAILY or WEEKLY:
Use an anti-static dust mop to collect dust and dirt. Note some people use a vacuum cleaner [HINT: Special Timber Floor Attachment needed, to prevent scratching]. We strongly recommend that you purchase this attachment brush to avoid the existing brushes of your current vacuum cleaner and its metal plate from scratching the floor.

WEEKLY or MONTHLY:
Wash the floor. Avoid ALL detergents as they are usually alkaline based and leave “streaks”. Avoid ALL thinning agents methylated spirits, turpentine, vinegar, salt’n’pepper J.
We recommend the “Bona” Microfiber mop & cleaning agents, which are specially formulated for the maintenance of any timber floors, regardless of what coating type is on it. Or alternatively you can always use
